New project: A New Adult novel!

That's right! I'm writing a New Adult Contemporary novel titled The Darkness That Haunts Us, yay!
It'll be the first in a series of stand-alones that I'll be self-publishing or publishing with a small digital press. When the time comes, I'll see what I can do.
It's the story of 19-year-old Megan Albert, a community college student with serious trusting issues. She feels that the universe must truly have it in for her and it becomes increasingly hard for her to open up to strangers.
Tired of feeling weak, she enrolls in a self-defense class, and very soon she finds that her teacher will stop at nothing to turn her into a stronger version of herself.
Isaac, the 21-year-old self-defense teacher, looks like the villain in a gang movie. His appearance rattles Megan, and yet, he sees how badly she was hurt and takes it upon himself to help her tear down her walls.
The question here is, will Megan let him in?
I'm setting a goal of 50k for this book, out of which I've already written 17k! In ten days! Is that awesome or what? And I really like what I've written, it's not pure crap that'll have to be edited out later. I'll share snippets of it as I progress with the project.

The idea is to write about Megan first, then her best friend Allie, and lastly, Allie's brother and Megan's friend, Charlie, to complete the trilogy. I've outlined a novella too, about Megan's ex, Ryan. When I started planning their backstory, his reasons for leaving Megan sort of bombarded my brain, and I wrote them down just in case ;)

I'll be blogging about my journey into self-publishing, so stay tuned!
xo, Ella
